    new home: looking for information on what will be needed
    I'm about to begin building a 2000 sq ft home and I wanted to know how many 2x4's and 2x6's would be needed?

    Would need to know the lay out of house with size of rooms. Is it on a slab? What is pitch of roof. Size and locations of doors and windows.

    This would only give u the basic number of studs needed.

    kitchen-10x15
    living area-20x14
    eating area- 10x15
    guest bath- 10x12

    Not knowing how the layout is, can not give number of studs of inside walls.

    For outside walls add depth plus width, multiply by 2, divide by 4, multiply 3. Then add 10% for waste. This will give u number of studs needed for outside walls. Do not know if your area requires 2x6 or 2x4 studding. This would be on blueprint.

    Add length of all interior walls, divide by 4 multiply by 3, add 10% for waste. This will give number of inside wall studding.

    Am unable to give ceiling beams or rafters. U would find their size on blueprint.
