I know leaders can be chummy but this is a little too chummy. You snubbed our previous leader but you want to cuddle this one? It seems the little red fox just doesn't know how to behave, she all but snubbed the Queen with her nod of the head and now she cuddles up to the US president.

    Hi Clete,

I don't know if Obama will be that friendly when Kevin 11 takes over again.

Yes, the leader of the free world needs to inspire fear in people, not be friendly with them, that gets one nowhere!

It's about respect, and that greeting doesn't show respect. He can kowtow to an Muslim Arab princeling but he cuddles our leader.

    Well 1st
Happy Remembrance Day (Poppy Day... Veteran's Day on this side of the world and Armistice Day to the whole world. ).

It appears that the President is going to get a royal reception from our good friends at Canberra ;and he'll get to give one of pontifications to the full Parliament .

Then he gets to go to Darwin where he will announce that the alliance between us is good and strong and that you will graciously permit us to forward deploy on your island continent . It appears that the Aussies aren't quite ready yet to completely throw in their lot with the Chinese .

Tom, China, like the US, is a great place to visit, ne how ma, but you are still our friends and allies, we haven't fought any wars on behalf of China yet. Like the communists we have the philosophy that we will sell you, or them, what they want to buy, so a little Darwin realestate? I have a lovely view of the crocodile infested beach or would you prefer a view of the abo camp? I expect the industry in Darwin will get a boost with the arrival of the yankee

I hope BO well remembers the visit of the last american President, he was given a hot reception in the parliament.

Julia and Barack's special relationship - the audacity of grope | News.com.au

His terms of address have ranged from Prime Minister Gill-lard to Julia to Julie making us all wonder what he will call her next, not once have we heard him refer to her as Ms Gillard or madam Prime Minister, while his lingering handshakes, etc make us wonder why he didn't bring Michelle with him.

This must surely be the closest relationship between heads of state in many years

The Aussie stop was one of what can be considered a really significant diplomatic tour that is largely overlooked here.
Not sure why the President isn't crowing about it because it was a significant junket.

Besides the Aussie basing there is the Evita initiative to open up Mayanmar ;the Chinese showed an openness to take their South China Sea claims to a multilateral forum (or at least didn't go into a tirade against it ) ; Singapore also agreed to basing ,and he gained support for a regional free-trade bloc that so far omits Beijing.

Yes Tom your media has a habit of overlooking most things associated with anything south of the Tropic of Cancer, his diplomatic mission was so successful Australia had to give Indonesia additional financial support to deal with people smugglers to placate them, and by the way we don't need the permission of anyone to do what we do here

All these other matters he would have done anyway with or without an obligatory visit to Australia
