    Moving out at 16
I'm 16 and want to move out. Is it legal in Canada? And if so do I have to get emancipated? Who do I go to for that?

That's great that you have a full-time job so you can support yourself, and have your own apartment. Are you still planning to go to college? That's what emancipation is all about, you know -- completely supporting oneself without anyone's help.

I have a friend who would allow me to move in with her. Would it be legal?

No, you have to be able to live on your own, with no help or support from anyone.

    Emancipation varies between provinces:

Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and PEI is 18.

BC, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Yukon, Nunavut, Newfoundland and Labrador and NW territories is 19.

You and that adult have to go to court and have a judge declare that person legal guardian.

Why can't you live at home any longer?

YOU can do nothing but apply for emancipation according to the laws of your province. Your parents would have to agree to allow some other ADULT to serve as a guardian.

If your parents do not agree, then that person can get in trouble for parental alienation.

    What problems are you having?

No, you have not given any legal grounds ( reason you need this) merely wanting to or not being happy is not a reason.

Another adult could be arrested if they allowed you to move in without parents permission.

You can not move in with someone else but have to have a job that can pay all your bills, and have money saved for the attorney to represent you in this
