    Installing new honeywell rth6350d1000 thermostat
Just moved to North Carolina and have a heat pump for the first time. I want to install a new programmable thermostat but I am a bit confused... The one I have on there now is a Honeywell th5220d1003 and it is wired as follows:

    Wire : Terminal
    White : Aux
    Green : G
    Blue : O/B
    Yellow : Y
Red : are - and has a jumper to Rc

The new thermostat is a honeywell rth6350d1000, it has exactly the same mounting plate and pins. I tried to just plug it on the way it was wired and it did now work. Now sure what the heat pump is as the house is a rental and I haven't been up in the attic to look at it... however I do know it has emergency heat...

    Thanks!
