    Installing a Honeywell programmable thermostat
    I am replacing an old mercury thermostat with a honeywell rth7000. I have a heat pump
    Unit.

    Current Mercury wired as such:
    Red wire to R
    Brown wire to T
    Orange wire to O
    Green wire to G
    Yellow wire to Y
    Blue wire to B
    White wire to w with a cooper plate connected for w to u

    Honeywell RTH 7000 labeled for heat pump as such:

    C AUX
    G E
    Y L
    O/B
    RC
    R

    What wire do I connect from my old mercury to my new Honeywell rth 7000

    Red to R & Rc, white to AUX, yellow to Y, green to G, orange to O, blue to C, insulate brown (not used). Check installation instructions for configuration options to assure O/B is energized in cooling mode.
