Gas fireplace working, but doesn't throw heat... could it be the fan, or blower?
Gas fireplace working, but not blowing the heat out. Is it a fan or blower or thermostat problem? Any suggestions helpful. Thanks.

Are you sure there is a fan? I have a fan in mine and it takes 3-4 minutes before the t'stat heats up enough to turn on the fan. Check under the front access panel. My switch is a double pole, OFF in center, ON to the left, AUTO to the right. It could be either the fan or t'stat, you'll need to check voltages to both.

In most cases there is a switch as ma0641 stated. Also, in newer home they put everything on wall switches... one to turn the fireplace on and one to turn the blower fan on. Let us know what you find.

Thanks, yes I'm sure there is a fan. Don't have wall switch. In the front panel, there is a rotary dial to turn blower high, low or off. I hear the motor kick on after a few minutes, but then it doesn't blow the heat.

If the motor on the fan is running but you get no heat you need to first confirm that the blades are turning on the fan, then look for a blockage to the air flow.

I do have heat, it just won't distribute it. And actually, we don't even know where to look for this! Maybe I can find the manual, and it will direct us to the parts. Thanks for your help, everyone! Any other suggestions welcomed!

You say you hear the fan kicks on, but have you tried adjusting the dial once it kicks on to see if the speed goes up or down? When the dial is in the off position, and you click it on, that will be your highest speed, the further you turn it, the lower the speed. At low speed, you will feel very little if any airflow.

I have a gas fireplace with a dimmer switch on the wall that controls the fan. The wife went to use it the other day and said when she went to adjust the fan a spark came out of the switch. We have had our propane gas fireplace for 4 years now, and it has always worked beautifully until now. We still have flames, but the fan (which we usually leave turned off and only use once in a while) isn't working. We turned the fan on tonight and nothing. Of course, we can't lay our hands on...
