How do I change my child's jurisdiction?
My divorce was filed by my ex in a certain county of Florida where we were residing. Divorce has been final for almost 4 years. My child lives with me, he has been in school here and our everyday life is here. The father has every other weekend visitation. My concern is the fact that since my son is not jurisdicted in the county we live in because the divorce was filed in my ex's county-my ex can pull anything he wants and I don't believe I need to go to his county for any modifications or anything at all. How can I change my child's jurisdiction to the county we reside? Is it possible to do without an attorney?

Jurisdiction remains with the original Court until it is moved/changed.

Apply for a change of venue.

A County Order is good anywhere in the Country. Just because your ex is outside the County where you live does NOT mean he can change the rules by himself. If he wants the rules to be changed he has to go back to Court.

The rule is generally that jurisdiction remains in the original court unless BOTH parents have moved. You can apply for a change, but its not likely to be granted.
