    Lintle for a basement window
Does my basement window require a lintle on top to support the bricks or will the window support the weight of the bricks ?

There needs to be a lintel in a masonry wall. If the brick is veneer, you will have a header in the interior frame. In a masonry or veneer wall, the bricks are supported by the foundation, not the framing.
