    basement window
I have recently installed two basement windows. I had attached (2) 1 x 6's to the concrete foundation and installed the window to the 2 1x6's with screws. I had used concrete screws to anchor the lumber ( the 2 1x6's)into the concrete. The sills of both windows are slabs of limestone (8 inch wide) that I cut to fit in the opening first. Above, the window is tight up against the newly installed angle iron that is directly under the sill plate. Now-my question I: how do I caulk these windows... or cap them.. I guess I could cap the sides but the top and bottom are not part of the frame. The top and bottom I could just caulk but how do install the capping... and where do I go to purchase the material.. Do I need any special tools like a roofer..
    Thanks for any help...

The top and bottom can be caulked w/ clear silicone.

The sides you can cap the exposed wood with aluminum coil stock. This is in the roofing area of the home centers. There should be small rolls you can buy (12" x 10') in brown, white or cream colored.

To bend the aluminum coil stock you should use a "brake". This is a device anywhere from 8-6" up to 12"6" long that is made to bend coil stock.

You can get Amerimax "brake" pliers. These are in the gutter section of the home centers. These have flat "jaws" that come in 6", 8" 10" lengths that help bend small sections of coil stock. These should work for your application.

If all else fails, caulk and paint any exposed wood.
