We purchased our home about 18 months ago and one of the rooms has a Hampton Bay ceiling fan and light. We have never had any issues with it until now. It is a 5 blade, three speed fan with a directional switch. There are 4 lights coming off the bottom of the fan that have 3 lighting settings as well as the off setting. Both the lights and fan are controlled by the pull switches for each and we have a wall switch to power it on and off with that also has a second switch for another ceiling light nearby.
Last night we shut the fan off by using the pull chain with no issues at all. But today when we went to turn it back on again, nothing is working. Not the fan or lights. Have checked breakers and other lights in the house and nothing else is out so it seems to be limited to the fan itself.
I have read about others having issues with a remote for their fans, but we did not receive a remote control for ours so do not know if this is an issue or not.

What can we do?

Step one would be to verify the output voltage of the supply line from the panel. I would go back to the panelboard and make sure that the breaker is functioning properly. Take the handle and push it as far to the OFF position as you can, then move the handle back to the on position and see if you have power back at the fan.

Sometimes when a breaker trips it returns to a middle position on the throw range and appears to be in the ON position when it is actually Off.

Do you have a voltmeter and know how to use it?

Is the light on the other switch working?

@jerro, yes the other light switch is working without any problems.

@donf, I have checked all of the breakers and all seem to be functioning properly. Also, all other plugs, switches and lights that may or may not be on the same circuit are working fine. But I will go back through the breakers and double check them again. Since our breakers are unmarked, I am not sure which one controls the fan and with it not working right, it will be hard to tell if I am flipping the correct breaker, unless it does actually come to life.

Yes I have a voltage meter and have some basic knowledge of how to use it.

Since you have power to your other light I would say you did not loose power in your room. Drop the canopy at the top of your fan and you should be able to access the wires. Use your voltage tester and see if you have 120volts between the black and white wires. If you have power then it would be something in the fan.
