    Charity Overseas
    Can any one please explain what are the rules for donating to a charity organization.

    I have a situation... I am from overseas and back to my country, my parents have a business and they also run a charitable organization for a good cause.

    We donate a large amount to our charity organization from USA and would like to know how we can get a tax deduction for that. As of now we always Wiretransfer the money but now as we have decided to donate more than 10k, we are looking if we can deduct from the taxes?

    Can we deduct from our taxes? What proof do we need to keep for our records?

    Please guide...

    contributions to charities abroad are usually not deductible on your US tax return.
