    Pregnancy hormones and lymph nodes
Hello I am a 21 year old female, I am about 5 weeks pregnant and a couple days ago I felt a tender, not very swollwn lymph node in the groin area, I called my doctor and the receptionist told me it was probably hormones causing this, I just wanted to know if this was a common problem. Thanks

Cec, having swollen lymph nodes during pregnancy is common enough for a few reasons, not to be worried about it. Lymph nodes are our sign that things are topsy turvy in there; their general use is so we are aware of a low grade infection (an oncoming cold, sniffles, anything like that) and your body is fighting it. I don't know if the receptionist should have chimed in there unless she was a nurse.

I would makie an appointment with your doctor to ease your mind. I am glad you are aware of lymph nodes, many people aren't, and they are an important early warning sign if you are aware of where they are and what they do for us.
