Hi Abregini The sewer drain line needs to be snaked/cabled and the drain line needs to be repaired... for me to tell you more I would need to know the material and size of the pipe we are talking about. The raw sewage will also need to be removed/cleaned up and the area will need to have some quick lime (calcium oxide) deposited over it to help kill the odors that could linger here, OK? The pipe size its about 6 inches, that s where all the drain pipes joint but the main pipe that goes into the field down the sewer it seems to be corroded and has a little hole on top where the waste its escaping, the house was build in the 1920 , The main problem it's that I have to do it myself there no income from myself to call a plummer . So I have to rent a snake and get dirty. After cleaning pipes how can I fix hole on top . Or I have to cut and try to put some pvc pipes. Thanks for your help. Aabregini. Quick lime should be readily available at any masonry supply store. In terms of the "small" hole on the top of the cast iron pipe, your best bet is to cut out a section and replace it with PVC, but a short term fix would be to rough up the surface of the pipe around the hole and then mix up some PLUMBERS EPOXY PUTTY (see image) and fill the hole, being sure to feather/blend the edges smooth to the pipe. As long as the sewer doesn't back up it should hold for a really long time as the stuff dries almost as hard as steel... ;) Do NOT use plumbers putty... must be EPOXY putty here. Good luck! Mark |

Seeing a hole on top would make me wonder what the pipe's like underneath since there's more friction along 6the base of the pipe rather then the top. If you epoxy the top and still see sewage leaking out the bottom of the pipe is rotten and shot and must be replaced. If you need To cut out and replace a section of cast iron with PVC click on back and one of us will walk you through the process. Also, if you don't plan on cleaning the crawl space right away I would spread quick lime over the spill. Good luck, Tom |
