    Old (2008) air handler with new condenser
    Okay, so I know very little about HVAC and here is my issue. When I built my home three years ago my contractor added a package of doing all the duct work and have the air handler installed. The only part that was missing was some of the electrical work, piping, and the condenser.

    I went with an HVAC guy that had a pretty good quote to finish up the system last week. He put the condenser and finishing thing up in a day and a half. We had a very hot weekend (a great test for the system) and it seemed like the system could not keep up with the set temperature and the air that was blowing just wasn't cool enough. I called the HVAC guy back and he said he'd stop by this week. After stopping by, he noticed something wrong with the pressure. Then he noticed his mistake. An older air handler.

    According to him the fix was simply to replace the expansion valve with a newer universal expansion valve that could handle a mismatched system. So he did. I'm not sure if he replaced the Freon. It seems the air is somewhat cooler now, but the outside times have also calmed down.

    Does this fix seem right?
