Looking for some info about this print. Les Graveurs Modernes Paris is in the upper right hand corner. Some french in the upper left. Number 72 in the lower left and signed in pencil in the lower right.
Any info would be appreiciated.

I think that the name of the original engraver would be as you've listed, Les Graveurs Modernes, Paris. Do you know the name of the work? And, if you can, would you please type out here any of the French words and/or names that are visible? Also, are there any other markings, such as letters, anywhere on any part of the front or back of it, please?

The french in the upper left corner is quite tiny. I'll try to get that for you. No, I don't know the name of the work. The only markings I can see are the ones I mentioned. I'd rather not take it out of the frame to see if there is anything else written on it. Do you know what the "signature" is in the lower right?

Thanks again. I could probably take a better picture of the signature. I found a similar print with what must be the same signature.

I need to get a magnifying glass to read the tiny french printing.

I got a magnifying glass but the tiny french writing is still tiny. The best I can make out so far is the name Les Graveurs... and an address 194 rue de something, Paris. I will get a stronger magnifying glass and try to get the rest of it. There is also something hand written after it, in pencil.

The name of the etching is "Evening Reflections" and it was done by Henry Van Santen. I hope this helps its to bad I didn't run into this earlier. I see it was posted in 2009. Had I had into it in 2009 I probably would not have known what it was... Its a very nice piece. (I have the same one and the information is on a paper on the rear of the frames tattered dust cover.) It was done in 1924.

I am by no means an art expert or appraiser, but I value mine at $500-$1000(USD). $500-750 is reasonable $1000 might be a stretch... perhaps an art expert will stumble on this and leave more accurate value information. There were several excellent european etching artists around this same period. Hans Figura, Luigi Kasimir, and TS Simmons comes to mind. I believe they were all from Austria and knew each other.

H. Van Santen (1893-1959) was from Belgium and is a listed artist. My etching is 22.75" wide by 18.5" high. Its in the original frame with glass and is in pretty good condition.

Thanks for this info. But I'm having a hard time verifying that name. The only H. Van Santen that comes up in a Google search is your post. If you have anything else you could add to help, I'd appreciate it.
