I'm shopping for a new forced air furnace. The lowest price I have is for a high efficiency furnace made by Goodman. Never heard of this manufacturer. What is the quality rating for Goodman high efficiency furnaces?
    Thanks

Goodman is a good unit if installed correctly. All HVAC equiptment is good if installed corectly.NOTE of caution. All Goodman and other brands of equiptment sold on Ebay or other sites are not covered under the manufactures warranty. In order for you to get the warranty the equiptment has to be installed by a professional in the HVAC trade.

This has been listed by every manufacturer for many years as part of there policy for warranty part replacement and labor allowance.

In order to install the new equiptment today you have to possess the skill and have the tools. I am retired from the HVAC trade after owning a small 37 man corporation for over 30 years. The testing and start up tools cost at least 1000.00 and you need the to set the CO on a new install on startup among other things.

If you doupt what I have told you call the main factory of Goodman,Carrier,Bryant, or any other manufacturer. If you call the illegal dealer on Ebay he will tell you he can get the warranty parts for you but you will have to pay for them until he gets credit from the factory. Guess what he never gets credit and you will not get your $$ back

I have given you this message out of good will. I actually do not care where you get your equiptment because I am no longer in the business but I will say that over the years we turned down many service calls because the customer wanted us to warranty there job and there was no way we could do that since the factory did not sell us the equiptment. All sales use the serial number to log the purchaser. When you go to get parts the computer kicks out the transaction because the equiptment was not sold to a legit dealer but to a home owner.

This note was just mentioning the facts so you make sure your equiptment that comes to you is legit so you have no warranty problems. Good luck

I would suggest reading consumer reports, J D Powers etc.. But I would tell you to get the best part and labor warranty you can get, even if it costs a bit more. Often companies will almost give you an extended warranty. I prefer to do business with locally owned companies, that have been in business a long time. Ask friends, family and neighbors for referrals.

Oh, I should mention you can search this site for Gooman related posts.

I'm going to buy two replacement 13 SEER R-22 heatpumps - outside and air handlers. The Trane is $1800 more ($900 x two) and gives me a 10 yr warranty on the compressor vs. 5 yr on the Goodman - all else is the same. Is the Trane with its extra 5 yrs worth it?
