Hi my bofriend wants to adopt my son, my sons real father is not on his birth certificate an never had any contact with since he was born, I would like to know how to go about this ***? Thanks

If you are in the U.S. no, your boyfriend cannot adopt your son. You and he would have to be married for as much as a year or more before it's allowed, and the biological father would have to give his written okay to an adoption.

First it is great that you have found someone who wants to be there for you and your child. He will be blessed no matter what.

In most places in the US, the courts will want you to be married. And if not they will need proof of a long term stable relationship.

But it works a lot easier if you can get the bio father to sign over his rights to allow the adoption. In either case, you will hire an attorney, and try and get the lawyer to filein court and serve the bio father. If he signs great, if not, then if he does not show up to fight this in court, most likely the judge will award it. If he shows up to court to fight, that may be a problem.
