    Can my boyfriend adopt my son
    I was just wondering whether my boyfriend who is 24 could adopt my 2year old son,

    1. Get married. Most states want you in a committed (read: married) relationship before allowing an adoption to go through.

    2. Get a lawyer.

    3. Sever the biological father's parental rights (or see if he will voluntarily relinquish for an adoption).

    4. Go to court.

    5. Ta-da!

    Seriously--you need to contact a local attorney to find out what EXACTLY you need to do to have him adopt.

    Most states would require a stable relationship to allow an adoption.
