    Ceiling fan light switch
I have an older ceiling fan that works well, except the light switch appears to be broken. The pull chain will not turn on the light. Can the internal light switch be changed or must I buy a new ceiling fan?

Most ceiling fans can be bought with/without light fixtures. You can remove your fixture and replace it but take a look at that pull chain. Replacing the switch is pretty easy once the fixture is in your hand.

Thanks. Good point. My brother called me with the problem. I will tell him to remove the light section to check the switch and chain, or I will go to his place and check it myself. I have installed several ceiling fans with lights (I don't think he has).

Confirm that it is actually the chain that is broken, and not a connection problem somewhere. But replacing the switch is easy.

Thanks! I wrote those documents because I found myself answering the same questions over and over again. I'm going to create a FAQ here too.
