    Old misunderstood judgment!!
    In July of 2009 I was served with a bogus restraining order made by a friend whom I had recently had a falling out with. When told that I had missed court and had judgment againdt me I was under the impression that this just meant that the restarining order would be extended. Initially I had planned to fight this and I went to court to do what I thought was just bring the case back up to prove that the restraining order was obtained from false information. After awhile I decided that I really didn't care to have any further contact with this friend so I didn't care if the restraining order was extended. I resently found out that the judgement had nothing to do with the restraining order but it was a Judgment in which this friend had sued me for $5000. And that when I went to What I thought was motion back up the restraining order case I had actually vacated the original judgment and by not showing up again I received another default judgement. It has now been two yrs and Im just finding out and realizing that this $5000 judgment is on my credit report. Is there anything that I can do now about this??

    Yes, pay it.

    I don't understand how you confused the paperwork and language of a protective order and a monetary Judgment.

    After two years, having it vacated once, there is probably nothing you can do. The Court will not be interested in another "go around."

    Yes, that's puzzling.

    My guess is that OP was served with process (summons and a complaint) as well as the TRO. She decided to let the TRO slide, and failed to note that the complaint asked for other relief. In due course she was defaulted and the money judgment was entered.

    As I say, it's a guess, but since posters on this forum often fail to ever explain, it is a working hypothesis.

    You will owe the money, you failed it appears to show up twice for hearings. And honestly, the notice are not similar and when you get summons should take them more serious. So you need to arrange payments or of course they can attach your bank accounts and garnish your pay normally

    As I said on that thread, exchange rates, etc. don't affect the outcome.

    I guess I have to use my psychic abilities to figure out when and where to claim my prize? :cool:
