    Is it approved accounting to pre date checks?
    Under what accounting guidelines would a person pre date checks?

    It's not a good idea. At a minimum, the checks should be dated in the correct month. What is your purpose for pre-dating? It won't help with checks that are late as the recipient will go by the date the check is received or postmarked.
