    My Hampton Bay Ellijay won't start without a push, why?
    Model 122-954. Purchased and installed 2 in family room. After a few months, one occasionally would not start without help. Tried setting to higher speeds, but sometimes it just wouldn't go. Now, it won't go at all unless I push the blade to start. The other works fine.
    Checked wiring connections and don't see any difference.

    If the fan needs to be pushed to get it started in either direction, more then likely the motor's capacitor is shot.

    I suggest you return it to the store for an exchange unit.
