How to get a recently purchased used car inspected without tags/registration
    Hi,
My husband and I purchased a car from a different state last week. It's our first car (we previously lived in a city where we didn't need our own vehicle.) We have the title signed over to us and the previous owner removed the inspection sticker and license before leaving the state. In hindsight, I realize we should have gotten the car registered and inspected in state before she removed the previous license plates and sticker by I was out of town at the time of the transaction and my husband doesn't have a driver's license. As I understand, I cannot get my car's new tags and registration without a valid inspection sticker, but I obviously can't take the car to get inspected without driving it--which is illegal. As I said, I was out of town when my husband bought the car and didn't know the previous owner had already removed all of those items and left the state.
Any advice on how to go about getting the car inspected and registered in this situation?

First, it was probably illegal for the owner to remove the inspection sticker. An inspection sticker goes with the car. The previous owner cannot use it for a different car. So there was no reason to remove it. I'm very suspicious that they did so.

But now, you will probably need to tow the car to an inspection station. You may be able to get a temporary tag. Check with your local DMV.

Yes, you should be able to get a temp tag. But I will agree, taking the old inspection off worries me.
What was the written agreement on the car ? Did you have it inspected by a mechanic to insure it was in good condition ?

But in GA you would just drive it to a state inspection center and have it inspected. ** you would have to have insurance on it of course

Call DMV and ask, rest assured your situation is not unique. Most states require you to remove tags when you sell. Inspection sticker is another thing. You will probably be required to registrar vehicle and purchase tags, go home put tags on vehicle. Don't have to take vehicle to DMV. Then drive vehicle to inspection station.
