    System freezes
    My system appears to be locking up when working on a excel or word document. It looks like it is saving but the bar at top states (not responding). After several to many minutes it either closes or I have to cold boot the system. What are the potential problems and solutions?

    Is this a recent thing or has this been going on since using excel ?

I'm running Vista Home Premium on a Compaq C700. Anytime I turn on the machine and open an application, it freezes and I have to power it down. This happens, for example opening IE, I also opend Control Panel and clicked on System Maintenance and it did it again. Any suggestions?
