I just replaced a 4" trap going to the storm drain and getting water
Pipes are secure now. Trap is replace. I had to go down about 30" to under the concrete. working ok.
Now the problem or not. water is seeping through the ground and put about 12" in there. I take it out then next day it fills again. And again. I bought 2 fifty lb bags of a all purpose gravel from home depot and dumped in the bottom to support trap and pipes.

The water only comes so high and levels out. At the bottom of the pipe. I was hoping the water would find a new path to leak. Not yet. I want to fill the dirt and clay back in the ground and pour the concrete.
    Any ideas.
    Thanks

    Hi Jerry...

Simply add the gravel and backfill as you planned too... water will seek level and then you will be all set as it always was... ;)

If ground water is a major issue, you may also want to consider installing a SUMP PUMP just in case the drain clogs.

Finally, this may not be a popular idea in your area, but when I get those storm drain connections exposed I like to install a BACKFLOW PREVENTER just after the PTRAP just in case the city storm system backs up... may be something to think about before filling that hole back in. Here, I am not trying to make more work for you, but if your basement is finished (and even if it isn't) you may want to consider this as I have seen many, many storm systems back up and flood entire homes and entire neighborhoods for that matter.

    Back to you...

    I thank you.
On the lighter side I do not or never did get a back up.
The water was just leveling out. I was and am afraid to dump the clay the pour the concrete.
That's what I'm thinking though. Life is not easier being retired. Im working harder now
Iand I don't even get paid for it.
    Thank you

Your last comment finally if you are connecting to
It stopped there. Was there more info I should know about.
On the other hand what about all this soil or mostly clay I have downstairs.
    Can I use that. Thanks

    Nope... misprint... removed last sentence.

I'd use the gravel in the "wet area" and fill in dirt/clay as you get closer to the top.

    Good luck!
