Bryant furnace blower motor went out. What should I do?
I have a Bryant 398A 90 Plus furnace that is 23 years old. The furnace started making a low whirring noise so I called the heating company. They looked at it and told me that it was the exhaust blower motor. They said over $800 to replace it. They also said get a new furnace.

The price seems high to me. Can this be done for less? Can I do this myself? Should I get a new furnace? Will the furnace run safely without the exhaust blower motor?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, but the inducer (exhaust blower) is necessary to the operation of the unit. $800 does seem rather high for that part. Go to Google.com & enter the model # followed by "inducer assembly". You should find several results for online wholesalers to get a price comparison. Installing a replacement isn't difficult for someone handy.
