    Name on Deed and Mortgage
I want to add my name to the deed of the home my mother owns. I have been the only payor on the mortgage. Do I have to be on the mortgage also to have my name added to the deed?

This is an on and off again discussion on this thread - I would be surprised if the bank which holds the mortgage allows another name to be put on the Deed. This makes the "new" person on the Deed a co-owner but if the first person defaults what is the bank to do?

I believe that you cannot do this.

I know others have had the opposite experience and believe you can!

How is that for a non-answer?

If you are the one paying, see if the bank will allow you refinance with your mother, this will solve all the problems.

Most lenders will not add another name to the deed

In Arizona, adding a name to the deed is just a matter of the person on the deed to file a quit claim on him/herself, then deeding the property to him/herself and the spouse. Very easy and the lender has no say so.. at all!

This is a question from 2008 and long dead. I don't know whether the OP is actually in Arizona.

Before I would attempt to do this I'd check my mortgage papers to make sure this is allowed.
