This is my first time here. I'm working on bathroom project replacing a leaking shower floor in the master bedroom of our house built about 40 years ago. The base from stud to stude is a rather standard 32 X 48 after we broke out what seemed to be a concrete shower flower. I want to replace it with a simple shower base you can buy at Lowe's for about $160. Seemed simple enough. But here's my catch — our shower is walled on all four sides with only a small, maybe 20-inch wide shower door cut out from one end of the 48-inch wall. My question - the bases I find all have a 48-inch threshold along the entire length of the base. Is there such a thing as those pre-fabbed bases WITHOUT a threshold, that just has the lips on all four sides. Or can I get one and just cut off the threshold where it meet the wall and tile down to the top of that without having a lip to tile over on the one side? We really don't want to spend the $$$$ to have a new shower floor poured, particularly since we've had some problems with the house settling and showing some cracks in the walls.

Are you asking for a shower base that only contains water on three sides?
I don't think they make such a base. Ask your tile man about cutting the threshold and tiling down to it. Why not simply remove the entire 48" front and replace it with sliding shower doors. Regards, Tom
