I disagree with Chuck's comment on the lack of responsibility having a gun next to his bed. He is licenced to have the gun and that is why I mentioned about the game warden business and that is why he has a gun
First, I asked you to use the Answer options not Comments for followups.

Second, it will help us help you if you try to explain things more fully. You still haven't really explained what happened. What I'm understanding is that two people walked into your son's house and one of them was the boyfriend of his old girlfriend. It is not clear what actually happened while they were in the house.

As to your son having a gun, licensed or not, with good reason or not has absolutely no bearing on this case unless the gun was used during the break-in.

OK hope this clears it up. The girl called my son last night and this is what she told him. She said that they were at a cook out drinking beer and she was telling them about their relationship when they were dating. She told them that he never would take up for her if someone made a comment about her, so I guess they wanted to show her that they would and we feel that is the reason for the break in. I know that you are not fans of having a gun by the bed,I'm not really a fan either, but that is the profession that he is pursueing and that is the reason he has the gun. I only mentioned it because if he were there when this happened it could've gone bad in a short time. As for your comment Tickle, you might be right about me not knowing what I'm talking about, but you know just as much as I do right now. The police will not comment until it is brought to the DA so they tell me. We heard that the warrant has been issued with a 10m bond tied to it.(This is what the girl said last night) I am supposed to call the Sgt. Today for an update.

Scott, nothing happened in the house, they went from room to room looking for my youngest and then they opened the one room where my other son was sleeping and started yelling and wanting to know where my youngest was at. The son that was sleeping got up and started towards his door and that was when one of the men started towards him and then he ran back into his room and shut the door until he heard them walk out of the house.

I too sleep with a gun within reach .
I need no other reason than it is my right to do so.

If I am getting this ; the girlfriend seems to have gotten her currant boyfriend all fired up to prove he would stand up for her, because she said your youngest son did not when they were together.

So probably "under the influence" they were going to teach your boy a lesson in defending women by beating him with a bat and other unknown object.

So they went to his house walked in and searched for him , without permission to enter.

If this is close to correct they should be in jail for B&E at least.

Had this happened at my home they would have been in a mortuary .
When an armed stranger walks into your home you have the right to defend yourself and anyone there.

And a bat is no match for a Desert Eagle .50 cal.
