Dear Natnat25, yes cats can be jealous and territorial. Also cats are very nocturnal. Lacking a lot of details, I wouldn't worry too much with his behavior. When your partner is gone, he does have you all to himself... and he finds himself very contented. When his puurfect world suddenly involves competition, he acts out because he loves you and doesn't want to share you. Continue to love him and be patient with him. Like a child, when any attention is better than no attention, try to ignore his behavior. Don't ignore him. Just try to pretend everything is normal but don't lock him out of your room because he thinks your locking him out of your life, kind of. I too love my two cats but they can be a challenge. But they also give you much gratification. Believe it or not I think they are by far more intelligent than canines, but that's like calling an apple an orange. I love dogs too. Just be consistent with your love and attention and try to get your partner to try and win him over. They both may find they like it. Good luck. Also Google cats and expore. There is a wealth of knowledge at your finger tips. Ciao
