My cat George is the most loving and beautiful cat but we have a problem... My partner travels for work away a lot and when I'm on my own George is the most perfect pet he greets me when I come home sits with me plays and sleeps on the bed with me all night ti I wake up but when my partner returns he is all of the above except for at about 4 am every morning he has us up by swinging on the curtains knocking things off bedside tables etc or plucking furniture we shut him out of the bedroom and he scratches at the door and crys till we let him back in and it starts all over again till we get up and then is fine again! Can my cat be jealous?? Does anyone have Any advise as to what we can do? He is an indoor cat and has Been since we got him at 8 weeks he is now 1 1/2 years old and has plenty of space to run around which he does! He has lots of toys and a huge scratching pole that he loves and uses all the time! He is driving us crazy but we love him he is part of the family please help!

Dear Natnat25, yes cats can be jealous and territorial. Also cats are very nocturnal. Lacking a lot of details, I wouldn't worry too much with his behavior. When your partner is gone, he does have you all to himself... and he finds himself very contented. When his puurfect world suddenly involves competition, he acts out because he loves you and doesn't want to share you. Continue to love him and be patient with him. Like a child, when any attention is better than no attention, try to ignore his behavior. Don't ignore him. Just try to pretend everything is normal but don't lock him out of your room because he thinks your locking him out of your life, kind of. I too love my two cats but they can be a challenge. But they also give you much gratification. Believe it or not I think they are by far more intelligent than canines, but that's like calling an apple an orange. I love dogs too. Just be consistent with your love and attention and try to get your partner to try and win him over. They both may find they like it. Good luck. Also Google cats and expore. There is a wealth of knowledge at your finger tips. Ciao
