I've recently been getting tested for an answer as to why I get really bad hand tremours, I'm currently on propranolol ( post traumatic stress pills) and they seem to help.. I was wondering if this could've been caused by my deadbeat schizophrenic father being on speed & many other drugs when I was conceived and up to 2 years old. I get nervous very easily sometimes or get the shakes for no reason, I think it could be anxiety but I'm not sure as I've had this for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I can get really emotional, very low confidence etc :/ he was also extremely violent towards my mother and had hit her while she was pregnant with me and also holding me as an infant.. I get the shakes thinking about what he did.. I don't have any memory of what happened I'm not sure if I have mentally blocked it out from my memory, but myolder sister remembers and she has anger problems at times. I feel stupid for seeing this as a problem because his no longer in my life and there is people with a lot worse problems out there then m and I'm lucky to have my life how it is now. I'm almost 18 and I'm sick of these feelings and hand tremours :/ I do remember when I was younger I was very attatched to my mum as I would worry someone was going to hurt her. Could someone please give me some advice on what they think?

Propranolol (Inderal) is a beta blocker typically used for high blood pressure. It could be lowering your BP too low, causing the shakes.

Thank you for your advice, I don't think that'd be it though.. as I've had these tremours for years and have only been on propranolol for a few months which I have stopped taking them lately because I don't like the side effects :/ my father was also on prescribed schizophrenic medication when I was conceived.

I take benztropine (generic for Cogentin) for shakes,it is a treatment for Parkinson's disease patients but also prescribed for tremors.

Benztropine is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease or involuntary movements due to the side effects of certain psychiatric drugs (antipsychotics such as chlorpromazine/haloperidol). Benztropine belongs to a class of medication called anticholinergics that work by blocking a certain natural substance (acetylcholine). This helps decrease muscle stiffness, sweating, and the production of saliva, and helps improve walking ability in people with Parkinson's disease. Anticholinergics can stop severe muscle spasms of the back, neck, and eyes that are sometimes caused by psychiatric drugs. It can also decrease other side effects such as muscle stiffness/rigidity (extrapyramidal signs-EPS). It is not helpful in treating movement problems caused by tardive dyskinesia and may worsen them. Benztropine should not be used in children younger than 3 years.
