    Reverse air flow in furnace.
I just installed a new thermostat and the registers are not pushing out any air/heat. It appears they are pulling air in. Is this possible? I feel I connected the wiring correctly. However, I assume something is wrong there. Also, the copper tubing outside the furnace is starting to ice up. Never seen this before. I went from an old GE weathertron(mercury ampule)to a Honeywell RTH7400/7500.

What type of system do you have. Is it a conventional forced air gas furnace with air conditioning (coil on top of furnace, and condenser outside). Or is it a heatpump. Sounds like something got hooked up wrong, but that would not cause the blower motor to reverse direction. Take a piece of toilet paper and hold it to the registers, and let me know if they are blowing or sucking.

I think I figured it out. I had the setting on the thermostat for the Heat pump changeover valve set to cooling instead of heating. I corrected it and it appears I'm getting heat as desired and no icing on the piping. Thanks for your speedy response.

The furnace ran fine in the morning but some time in the afternoon it stopped. Details: Not sure of brand (didn't see a name when I went into attic). Supposed to be about 10 years old. Does not have a pilot but an "ignition system". When I set the thermostat and turn to "on" position, you can...
