    How to locate property
    Looking for property in Baton Rouge, La. Do not have title. Property was owned by father,who is deceased.

    Go to city hall and start at the tax collector's office and then the assessor's office. If you are far away, you can hire anyone, such as a title researcher or real estate agent or accountant, but it's all public information so anyone can look.
    Your father's estate will owe back taxes, if any.

    You may even go to the county property tax web site and pull up what is owned by him.

    Also remember in many places property is sold after a few years of non payment of taxes, so how long has he been deceased.
