    Furnace won't kick on,
    Pilot lite stays on but the gas will not turn on,fan works fine.

    With such little info its hard to say. You can try jumping the R and W wires at the thermostat if that works you have a bad thermostat. Some systems can have the pilot on but will not light the burners due to a open limit switch. Can you give more info about your system?

My pilot light is lit on my furnace but the furnace won't kick on. I changed the thermostat and it did fire up but after running a short while it started to blow only cold air. Can anyone tell me what could possibly be wrong?
