    Eligible for unemployment?
I was fired from a temp job after being called aside privately to tell me I had not been a productive canvaser for a PAC, a political action committee funded by private interests.I never got anything in writing about cause, so it could be their word against mine. Will I get benefits? I was not given a verbal warning that I would be fired for cause. I only had about five more days left and the campaign would have been over, so it came as a surprise.

They may fire you at any time in many US states, without any reason, but in this case they did at least state they said they had a reason.

And verbal is all they have to do, there is no requirement it be in writing.

As for as collecting unemployment, that will depend on many factors, were you an employee or a 1099 worker.

Do you have enough qualified quarters of income to colllect unemployment?

I worked for the PAC, they deducted FICA, state and local taxes. I was told that I had earned enough credits from two other jobs to file but they had to resolve the PAC job because someone put down that I quit which was false.

OK, most likely they may deny it at first, this is common,
So if they deny the claim, merely follow the instructions and file an appeal. They will normally do phone interviews with you and the company.
