Of course they will know when you went across, you would have had to cross with a passport, if you had donet it properly. I do believe all the restrictions regarding travelling for Canadians were in place a year ago.
They aren't stupid, everything is tracked by computer.
If you 'just told immigration you had been back and forth since' they would probably see red flags and wonder how you did it without them knowing.
As for the car, bought by a Canadian in the US would carry tax issues. You would have to pay some form of tax on the new car.
Don't get caught up in a web of lies here, you will be in trouble no end, so just call Immigration Canada and find out what you have to do from here on in.
