Hi I am a Canadian that came over to the US to visit my boyfriend and have been here for a year this month, anyway I have my child here with me as well and my child is enrolled in school full time high school. I want to be able to work here as does my child he is at the legal age to work 15, so I want to know if there is any possible way to legally work in the US without getting married. I only came over with my passport. And have not once returned back to Canada in a year.
Any help?
I don't know about working legally, I will leave other experts that question, but I would like to address your health coverage and other benefits that you may want to keep in place seeing as you have a fifteen year old, and for yourself of course. Canadians living abroad must re-enter Canada every six months to retain their OHIP benefits, and of course (for you somewhere down the line) your OAS and Canada Pension payments at age 60 or 65. These are issues you can't take for granted as a Canadian citizen and deserve some thought.
I would suggest you phone the Canadian consulate from where you are and find out exactly what you have to do to make sure you can keep what you have and still live and work in the US.

Is there anyway that Canada would know how long I have been away for?
I came across with my car but my car broke down here in the US and I sold it for parts. So could I just tell the border and Canada that I have been back and forth since?
Also can I drive the new car that I bought over here into Canada? The car I bought over here is in mine and my bf's sisters name?

They aren't stupid, everything is tracked by computer.
If you 'just told immigration you had been back and forth since' they would probably see red flags and wonder how you did it without them knowing.
As for the car, bought by a Canadian in the US would carry tax issues. You would have to pay some form of tax on the new car.
Don't get caught up in a web of lies here, you will be in trouble no end, so just call Immigration Canada and find out what you have to do from here on in.
