Furnace Blinking Ignition Lock out

The furnace will keep cycling Not blowing much heat and after a while just won't relight and blinks ignition lock out. Please give me an idea of what might be the problem.

My furnace blinks 3 times repeatedly, it goes into what my furnace describes as "Ignition Lock" then it will restart after 3 hours, what does this mean and how can I change it? The house gets quite cold when it is in lock, and its to cold outside to have this happen.
