    Ceiling Fan Remote Control Wiring
I purchased a Hampton Bay remote control for my Hampton Bay ceiling fan, and am having problems with the installation. The colored wires they talk about in the instructions are not the same colors I have in my fan.

On the one side of the receive, the black and white supply wires are no problem, as I connect those to the black and white wires from the ceiling.
I was also able to successfully get the light to work, by wiring the blue from the receiver to the blue wire in the fan. However, I am having problems with the remaining black and white wires that control the fan.

The fan comes apart in two pieces, the 'fan' part that is attached to the ceiling, and then the light fixture. There is a plastic wiring harness that I unplugged that connected the two together. It seems to me that I should be connecting the wires that control the fan to the wires coming out of the ceiling, not the ones that are bundled in the light fixture. Is this correct? If so, coming out of the fan I have a thick blue wire, then thin blue, brown, white, and grey wires.

I've been trying to connect them to the wires that are in the light fixture, but it now makes sense that it should be the wires in the ceiling since those are connected to the fan blades themselves. Before going forward, I wanted to verify if this is the case or not.

    Thanks for any help!
