    Brown discharge? My first period?
I'm 14 and coming 15 in couple of months, I have been getting white discharge for about a year or two, have both pubic and under arm hair, but for two days I have been getting brown discharge well kind of dark red mixed with brown. I was having cramps about a week ago for a day or two and then it stopped, but my back has been sore recently. I have told my mom and she said this might be your first period. I'm confused, is this my first period or what and if it when will it turn to blood color 'red' , Please be positive as this is very important. Thank you so much for your time.

Hey I'm 13 and mine was the same. I think its normal, after about a year it will turn to a red colour for the first two days then after that it is brown so I would say its your first period.

Your vagina does secrete fluids and it might be during sex, thinking about sex, exercising, even just walking. It's normal. Some women have more than others, and even one woman will be moister or dryer at different times of her cycle or stages of her life. We get dryer as we get older. Just put a paper towel or some tissue in your undies.

Instead of a paper towel or tissues I'd suggest a panty liner. It's a bit more comfortable and designed especially for soaking up vaginal fluids. They come in different sizes, even extra small for those that need to wear one between periods. Choose a size you're comfortable with, one that will do for your specific needs.

This is all part of being female. :)

I forgot to mention panty liners, because I seem to be jinxed by them. They come unglued from my panties and attach themselves with ferocious tenacity to my hair, LOL. I HATE them. Obviously other women have no problem with them because there is a huge market.
Oh - another little LOL about leaks of all kinds: as you get older and dryer and pass menopause, dribbles of urine might be next. So you could be padding your panties for life.

I'm not a huge fan of panty liners either, and refuse to use them. But, I don't have issues with vaginal leakage, so I can go without between periods, and when I have my period tampons are the only thing I'll use. But, when I was younger, in my teens, I always wore a liner.

There are tons of brands out there, and most stores sell sample packs so you can try them out and if you don't like them you're not stuck with a 40 pack that you feel you need to use in order to save money. So trying different brands until you find one you like is the way to go.

Also, different undies do have something to do with it. The material you wear can make a huge difference. When it comes to adhesives on panty liners I found that cotton undies are the way to go. The liners stick better. :)

One of the joys of being 40. I've been there, done that, and now I can pass on what I've learned. ;)

All Of This Is Totally Normal. I Can Absolutely Relate To The Larger Amount Of Moisture, And I Find Poise Pads To Be Most Comfortable And Helpful (They Are Originally Meant For Urine Leaking/incontinence)

As For The Brown Period, Its Normal As Well. I Will Have A Red One And Then Several Brown Ones Before I Get A Red One Again Lol
