What is causing sewer back-up in my basement?
I washed a load of laundry early in the morning then later in the day I found water on the floor. It was only about a 2 foot radius area around the drain near the laundry tub. I have 2 drains in the basement the one on the other side had nothing around it. It is definitely sewege and not washer water. I flushed my toilet and ran my tub for awhile and nothing happened. I did here the sump-pump running a couple of times (don't know if that means anything ). It did rain a lot yesterday and then ice and snow today (don't know if cold pipes affect anything). I also poured water down the drain and the level didn't rise. I have only bben in this house for a year and this is a first. Any help would be appreciated.

Sewer. Also checked 1:00 am nothing. 7:00 am more water. Only water used after first time when flushed toilet, ran water in tub, and ran water in laundry tub for clean up.

This leads me to believe that you have a partial blockage that lets most drainage pass but when you have a large discharge such as a washer or toilet it backs up.
The line will have to be snaked and cleared. If there's a clean out tee on a stack you can snake from there or if you know where the house clean out is open it up and cycle the washer. If you see water backing up then the clog id between your house and the street. Good luck, Tom

Can't get the clean out plug out... tried all the tricks except cutting. We reduced certain water usage no problem for 2 1/2 months. All of a sudden its happening again.I know for a fact now that it is happening every time the sump pump runs. The longer it runs the more water backs up, Which is happening a lot with snow melting and now rain.Any help would be appreciated.
