Will child services be notified/involved if my daughter be committed into phych ward.
Will child protective services be notified? My daughter is bypolar and afraid to seek help because she's afraid that somebody might take children. Kids father is very much is in the picture and also I'm always helping anyway. Kids are 4 and 6. my grandkids are not in any kind of danger

If there is a caring parent (Dad) willing to take over, calling CPS isn't necessary. This only happens when there is a danger to the children.
With that said, if she remains untreated, it is possible that CPS may become involved.

Thanks for prompt response.
My daughter is very careful and diligent in taking her meds, but right now they do not work and she would like an additional help from inpatient care and, like I said before, she's scared to have anything happen to their lives due to her illness.
Now, how can she get into psych ward anyway? If she'll say that she'll in danger to herself, will this trigger the call to CPS.
Also, if you don't mind, what credentials you have for us to be sure that you are right.
Thanks a million

I am a registered nurse, currently working in Labor and Delivery, but have worked in psychiatric hospitals in the past.
If your daughter goes to the hospital and says that she is a danger to herself, if she is not, they will see right through this.
Do you have a local psychiatric hospital? She doesn't have to be committed to get help. She can check herself in.
By saying that she is a danger to herself and/or others, she may face an involuntary commitment of a minimum of 3 days. This won't give her the help she really needs.

She would need to see a professional and be admitted to a facility. Or admit oneself if needed.
Lying will only hurt things, she needs to be honest about how things really are.

We will never lie about this horrific matter. As of this moment, my daughter is self-medicating self to the point that everybody is afraid that she'll not wake up. I'm taking care of the kids for the past 3 days, while her husband is working and tonight we will have family intervention and she has to go to the hospital. She's absolutely in danger to herself.
But we are concerned that CPS will be involved and will deem her unfit mother. Quiet opposite, she is the best mother in the world and dedicates herself fully to the family. She just needs help to get back to the stable self.
All this was brought up by seemingly happy, but stressful occasion - buying a new house and moving kids to the better school district. Who knew?

Don't worry. CPS will not become involved if the rest of the family is mentally healthy enough to take care of the children.

Thanks for help. I showed this to my daughter and she promised not to medicate self anymore and to ask for help when it will be too much and go to the hospital. She's usually good about keeping herself leveled. Thanks again
