How do I train my Red Healers not to poop in the house?
When we are gone or even in the other part of the house our Red Healer Jo Dog will leave a pile of poop in the hallway. Some times he is good and does all right. So his master gets upset with him, has rubbed his nose in it and now has resulted in putting the poop in his dig dish with much noise from Jo. Jo is not my dog and I don't know how to help his master deal with the mess.
So I hope you have some ideas. Thanks Sal

The master is wrong! A dog does not understand why he's getting his nose rubbed in his poop or having it end up in his dog dish. This is animal cruelty.

As soon as they come online, our dog experts will see this and will give you some help.

Sal, If you are not Jo Dogs master and Jo Dogs master is not willing to find his own professional solution as an owner just step over the next pile. That breed is well known for being easy to train but you all three must have a meeting of the minds. As for the poop in the bowl, I don't know where you learned that from. If anything it's going to teach him not to poop in his own bowl. This type of punishment has nothing to do with a dogs mind, only the owners sense of corporal punishment. Some trainers will tell you to use a crate, others will tell you not to crate train an adult dog. One thing you can start doing is not making a big deal about it and cleaning up the mess when the dog is not present. For a couple weeks keep a diary of the dogs activities such as feeding, sleeping, being home alone, high activity, bathroom habits in and out of the house and post those results later. DISCONTINUE THE CORPORAL PUNISHMENT.

Hello Sal. Are the red heelers urinating as well or just pooping in the house? I would also like you to tell jojos master not to rub his nose in it or put it in the dog dish. This can be considered as animal abuse. When he finds doo doo then he should spray the area. The weird scent will tell the animal that it is not his area to go in. then he should take jojos poop outside so when jojo sees it there he will get the idea. If it is urine then just clean the area and spray it. If jojos master catches him in the act then he should pick him up and firmly say no. then place jojo in the area he wants him to go in. after being placed there and seeing his doo doo there he will go there and be fully pottytrained! And if this method doesn't work and jojos master keeps rubbing his nose in it or putting it in the food bowl then he should give jojo away. This is irresponsible and dogs deserve better treatment.
