I just yesterday got a 7 month old lab. He is very quiet and seems subdued although hhe seems to like his walks.he hasn't barked once nor pooped .he was living with a family who has another dog.do you think he is just sad and missing them or do I need to take him to vet

When ever I get a new dog I always take them into the vet for a meet and greet and a once over.

Your pup will be a bit depressed, he doesn't understand what just happened to him. He misses his other family members and playmates.

Wouldn't hurt to give a few extra pets and rubs for the next week or so. Don't go over board, or else he will expect this behavior as the norm.

    Completely agree with Bella.

It's a strange new place and he has been taken away from everything he knows, he needs time to settle.

When you get a new dog it can take up to 2 whole months for the dog to completely settle into their new home. I 'adopted' 2 adult poodles from my parents and 2 years later they still cry and go ballistic when they visit here. It took quite a while before they settled into our place properly.
