I need to locate my jointly owned vehicle
The loan and title is in both our names joined by "or"... he has had the vehicle since we separated. I traded a harley on the vehicle when we bought it getting 15k in trade. I recently found out that he has not had insurance on the vehicle nor a valid registration and that he is running 30 days late for over a year. I will gladly take over the debt if I can get the vehicle back. According to the lender they will not get involved in helping me locate it since we are both on the title and the loan. All they care about is the payment. Oh wait did I mention that they have fornced placed insurance on the vehicle recently and can't tell me the cost of that... omg!!

Well expect the forced insurance to be 100's a month most likely 3 or 4 times the normal amount
Also all the late pay, and the added insurance is all owed by you also.
There is no way to merely find it, you will have to find the other person, hope they are using it and follow them.
Make sure you have a copy of the title with you, when you go to pick it up, since you do't want to be arrested for stealing it either.
But remember, just like you can go get it, they can also merely go get it back from you.

Well since (as I stated earlier) there is a liender I cannot show up with a title. I have located his work which is in a different state. I cannot locate his home address. My question is HOW do I do that? I know what my responsibilities are and I know that he can come and get it back UNTIL my divorce is final which is in 2 weeks. I need to get the vehicle in my possession asap. So any suggestions regarding that would be appreciated.

Hello hope:
I hate to dash your hopes, but if you can't FIND it, you can't GET it. If you want to GET it, hire a repo company. They'll FIND it.

Hello again, hope:
How many repo guys told you that when you tried to hire them to get your car?? Uhhh, I'd say NONE. You're an owner. You're ENTITLED to your car. There is nothing ILLEGAL about hiring a company to get it for you - nor is it illegal for them to do it.

Last time I bought a car, the lender held the title until it was paid off. In the mean time, I had the registration.
