Need help putting a name to an OOOOOLD school suspense movie
There was this old black and white movie that was on TCM a while back and was wondering if someone could tell me the name of the movie? Synopsis: a story about this man that ended up becoming a rich guy, married this girl and partnered with a friend that he's known for years. The man started going crazy, he started inviting his friend out to dinner and dancing with him and his wife, trying to get his wife and his friend together in a way, so that he could accuse them of carrying on an affair which he believed to be real. Later as he becomes more paranoid and obsessed he takes his friend out to the steel mill (?) that he runs and is almost driven to the point of pushing his friend into the burning hot metal. The friend turns around and notices what the crazy man was about to do and calls him on it. Later in the movie the main man decides to frame his friend for the "murder" of himself. He sets up his friend to look as though he killed the crazy man when in reality the man places a knife on a door and throws himself on it resulting in his death. Later on the wife (who began to care for the friend as her husband became more insane) has realized her love for the innocent friend somehow (I don't remember the exact turn of events that lead to it) she discovers that her husband had been keeping journals all through his life showing his progressing insanity and paranoia. Revealing also that while her husband was single had traveled to Europe under his friends name and had gotten into trouble there (not sure if it was abuse or murder). She is able to find the last journal he had hidden in a book binding store in Europe, in which the final entry proves the mans innocence. She is able to get the proof to the states just before his death sentence is carried out.
