What are the normal sleeping patterns for a 3 yr old?
I will put my child in bed by 7:45 pm and she won't really sleep until 9pm. It's been this way for several days now, in fact probably a couple of weeks. She starts complaining that her elbow hurts, that her back hurts, that her finger hurts, anything it seems to get out of bed. I am not sure what to do. She goes to daycare, and I sense that she may be sleeping too much there, but I am not sure.

I am a mother of 4 children ranging in age from 12 to 2 years old. They have all pretty much slept 8pm ish to about 7 am. My two year old still naps for about 1-2 hours every day and my ffour and a half year old napped an hour a day until about 2 months ago. If you can give them an active evening before or after dinner, it will help them get to sleep. My 4 and 2 year olds sometimes have little races... or we will turn up the music and let then dance their little hearts out. We learnt ffrom our 12 year old that above all don't give in (if your sure nothing is really wrong with them)... consistency is very important. I wish you luck.

Is she eating or drinking anything close to bed time? If you are concerned about her sleeping too much at daycare I would ask how long naps are and if the children are not awake (at the time nap time is supposed to be over) if they wake them up or let them sleep and wake up on their own. Also you said that is has been happening for several days, then I take that to understand that she was sleeping fine before. Did you start using new detergent, fabric softener, move, any change to her surroundings, or even children can pick up on our feelings. You know how it is difficult for us to sleep if we have a lot going on, they can go through the same. Children are very perceptive. If is continues and she isn't coming down with something (and there hasn't been any change of any kind), then I would take her to the doctor to see if anything that you aren't noticing. Sometimes it can be right in front of us be we don't notice. You may even be able to call and talk to the nurse. I found a cute and pretty neat website that has a chart on sleep patterns for different ages. http://www.slumbersounds.com/baby-sl...terns-info.htm Hope it helps. :O)
