Settings for using Honeywell TH8321 thermo on Trane XL14i
I bought a Honeywell Th8321 u1006 for my Trane XL14i heatpump. It has worked fine this summer and works great for this fall. The option I would like to figure out and change is the heat strips. They come on when the unit demands heating mode. They come on about 2 or 3 minutes after the heat pump comes on. Even with outside temp 60 degrees and indoor temp deviation of 1 degree from indoor target temp. If someone is familiar with the function settings, I can list what I have set, currently.

Any ideas on what to try?
    Thanks

360 locks out the heat strips,
And then 240 threw 270 is how many time a hr the heat strips will come on.
530 adaptive int may also make the heat strips run more.
Do you have a out door temp sencer?
And is 200 set to electric?

I do not have the optional outdoor temp sensor. 200=0=electric The unit knows I don't have the sensor, so Function 360 is not available. Getting the wires to the thermostat will be a pain. How about a small switch on thermo

I tried cutting the 220v breakers to the heat strips off but apparently the control circuit is there too. Unit did not work with heat strip breaker off.

There are 2 contacts on the thermostat where the opt outdoor temp sensor hooks up. Could I put something there to fool the thermostat to think the strips should not be on? I am in SC where it seldom get really cold.

No way to jump the wires as it just read ohms. You can take the 24 volt wire off the t-stat going to the heat strips if you like.
