Documents have all become acrobat
A little while ago all my documents lost their Word icon and all now have acrobat icons and the documents will not open... an error message from Acrobat states that the DOCX documents will not open... 'not a supported file type.'
I have restored my computer, rebooted numerous times but nothing helps... I need my documents! Please help...

If you still have word installed then try this. Highlight and right click the file you want to open. In the list choose "open with" then choose the program you want to use like word.

Did you try what I had asked? It sounds like somehow the default for those files changes and that is one way to change it back.

1. Right click a Word file
2. Select Open With from the pop-up menu
3. Click Choose Program…
4. Select Word in the Programs box
5. Check Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
6. Click OK
7. Repeat steps above for any other file types that have lost their program association.

Alternately, the program itself (WORD) may have a broken installation. Try reinstalling the program AND fixing the file associations. You might need to do both.
